The Last Stand. The Last Stand.

Rated 3.5 / 5 stars

This game deserves my full analysis.

First of all I'd like to say what an utterly fantastic job you did on this flash game. Patience is a virtue in all aspects of life. If you're standing in line, you could either be impatient and suffer or be patient and feel good about yourself. The same with flash, you could either be impatient, like most people are, and try to make something as quickly as possible and thus unable to put in the amount of time and concentration and effort needed for a quality flash, or you could be patient and have fun while making a quality flash. You've obviously discovered the virtues of patience and thus it has payed off for you in many ways. This is the best flash game on Newgrounds (as of August 2007, that is). I've seen this in the top ten for a while, but I didn't even realize it was a game. Only when I started playing games here on Newgrounds did I decide to come to this one which was sitting on the top 50 flashes. At first when I saw the title I thought it could possibly have something to do with The Stand by Stephen King (which excited me because I am getting ready to read that novel, I don't know if you have or not but all my friends tell me it's the best they've read). It turned out not to be the case, which initially disappointed me. I pressed play and started the game and at first I didn't really know how to handle all of the crazy zombies running at me. As a matter of fact, they completely tore down the barrier to my base on the first wave, and I barely made it out alive. I died at the beginning of the next level, as you might of guessed. Maybe I wouldn't have had I figured out that you could rebuild your base you find more people or new weapons, which I didn't realize at first. Second attempt I did much better. I shot most of them dead on in the face and made their pathetic skulls explode into pieces, making a splash of the trademark flash-style twice-shaded blood. Speaking of flash, I hardly noticed this was a flash game. The detail you put into everything coupled with the size you shrunk them after drawing them made it seem unlike any other flash game, that's how lost I became playing it. I really got into it, you could say. On the second wave, I blasted them with greater skill. When I started to find other survivors during the daytime, the game became a great deal easier. The first wave is the hardest when you compare them to any of the others because of the alone factor. That's one of the flaws in this game. Perhaps you should have balanced it out a bit more. I didn't mind that much, it's just that I enjoy a bit of a challenge sometimes, instead of being lazy. You don't really need tactics when you have six other guys blasting at zombies alongside you, all you have to do is basically blast at whatever you feel like and you'll win regardless. Don't get me wrong though, I still had fun, especially when I saw that you added in a sawed-off shotgun. I LOLed when I saw that, you earned points for putting it in but you should have just called it a 'Sawed-Off', which is the street term for it. I wish it would have been a little more powerful too. I think it was just slightly more powerful than the regular shotgun, with the advantage of having a slightly faster loading time. Anyway, when I got to the eighteenth wave, I saw something that either resembled Bozo the Clown or Stephen King's IT, which I shot down with glee. Then when I reached the end of the nineteenth level, there was a glitch that made it so it didn't move on to the next level. It just stayed in the daylight with no more zombies coming. I was dismayed and had to restart it. When I finally got to the same point the second time around, it didn't happen again and I finished the game. I was disappointed to find that there wasn't a boss, and even more disappinted at the ending. 'Another Day'? What the hell, are you serious? After all that work making such an awesome flash, you come up with that lame of an ending? Those are my three gripes with this flash: the glitch, no boss, and the VERY lame ending. That's why I gave it three less points out of ten than I would of!!

I'm happy

I asked if my life ambition would come true and Skullhead revealed to me that it would. That made me happy :D

Good Enjoyment

It's kind of slow like the original Super Mario Bros. game. I could imagine this coming out in arcades during the 80's.... it would have been the most popular one, you just KNOW it would have had pizza grease all over the buttons and everyone at school would be talking about the kid who had the highest score. But unfortunately it's the 00's and such a thing shall not happen. I did like the game, though.

Amoeba-rific

I was having fun with this game for a while, but it gets too repetitive eventually. It's a little bit simple, and there are only two different kinds of enemies that aren't very detailed. The only backgrounds are different colors... and it's basically the same thing over and over with more enemies per level. The fun factor is there, it's just that it doesn't last long because of the reasons I mentioned before.

Hagridgrounds reviews a classic flash

One of the funnest games I've played. It doesn't matter how short or simplistic it is, I got a genuine satisfaction playing this original flash game. Great job and I hope more flash artists out there take learn a lesson in good flash-game making from this.

Hagridgrounds reviews a classic flash

I would have loved this game back when it first came out. I strongly disliked the fewel known as Carson Daly. I thought he was annoying, and I still to this day think he maintains a degree of annoyance, even with the experience he's gained over the years as a late night talk show host. I still like it today, however, and in so small part because of the overkill at the end of the game.

It's an alright game.

It was a good, basic game, but it didn't have much replay value, I'm afraid. Some suggestions: different backgrounds, changing music, more levels besides the first one and more content for the harder difficulties instead of just a faster spin of Skullhead's mace. Also, I was hoping to be Skullhead instead of having him as a villain. You still did a good job in my opinion.
